Adult Martial Arts

“Martial arts” is the general term used for many traditional combat forms.  Each style is unique although many styles share some similar moves between them.  Karate, taekwondo, kickboxing, judo and jujitsu are some of the more commonly heard of schools of self-defence.

Martial arts can be practised as a sport.  Most schools of martial arts train both mind and body.  Good physical training often results in increased strength, balance and flexibility.  Mental training gives students better focus, courage and confidence.  Some can teach relaxation techniques as it is an important part of the learning process.

Despite the physical exertion demanded by martial arts, it is an excellent method of stress relief – especially after a long day’s work.  It actives our senses to dispel the dullness of a repetitive working day whilst providing enough workout to produce endorphins and help ensure a good night’s sleep (all whilst improving fitness and health).
