Karate for Kids

Karate is a popular form of martial arts that has spread globally from Japan.  Karate can be an intense, exciting sport for all ages but especially for children. When looking for a place to enrol your child for karate lessons, here are some things to keep in mind.

1. Level of difficulty.  It’s not just a matter of physical exhaustion (keep in mind that some level of exhaustion is good for fitness). Are the instructors choosing words and phrases that are easily to remember and understand?  Or otherwise, are they being too simple in their lessons that your child leaves without really learning anything new?

2. Instructor ratio.  It might sound good to join a popular class of fifty students hosted by one or two instructors but your child is sure to miss out some valuable training as the busy instructors try to organise the whole class.

3. Qualification.  Are the instructors well trained in the art that they are teaching?

4. It’s for children. If it’s not fun, it’s not fun! Enjoyable classes make fatigue disappear.

Family Self Defence offer programmes that are made specifically for children.  Karate instructors are trained in dealing with kids and provide a routine that is focused in improving complete beginners to black belts.  If you are interested in visiting a class to see how our instructors teach kids, why not give us a call?
