Self Defence for KidsPerhaps the most common scenario for a child to need self-defence is when facing a bully. Family Self Defence believes that self-defence is non-aggressive and teaches how to diffuse situations, only resorting to physical defence as a last resort. Students do learn how to protect themselves from punches, kicks and throws, but are always taught to try other possible methods to prevent a fight. Students are shown how to detect and prevent situations from escalating to violence. Children are taught different methods such as walking away from a bully, telling their parents and teachers about their issues and verbally forcing the bully to back down to name a few. Kids are also encouraged to develop their confidence - not because they practice martial arts, but rather as a way of accepting themselves.
